About Rosie's Rainbow

I love all dogs, but there's nothing like the sweet soul of an older dog

Our Mission

Senior dogs are among the most vulnerable victims of pet overpopulation.  Sadly a large number of them end up in overcrowded shelters, frequently deemed "unadoptable." Many are placed on euthanasia lists due to age, medical challenges, or terminal illness.

At Rosie's Rainbow, we believe every dog deserves compassion in their final chapter. We provide a safe home, medical and hospice support, and unconditional love through their good days, their challenging days, and their last days.

The Legacy

Rosie's Rainbow was inspired by one special dog: Rosalita. At 14 years old, Rosalita was surrendered to a Utah shelter for euthanasia. She suffered from severe dental disease, multiple tumors, and scars from past trauma that left her with a unique gait. Despite her condition, compassionate shelter workers believed she still had life left to live.

She was rescued by a senior dog organization in Boise and came to me as a foster. With their support, Rosalita received essential medical care, including tumor removal and dental surgery. What began as fostering quickly turned into adoption. Rosalita - renamed "Rosie" - claimed her spot in our bed and in our hearts and thrived for four more years. She passed peacefully at age 18, at home and in my lap, surrounded by love.

Had she not been given a second chance, Rosie would have died alone in that shelter. Her journey led to the founding of Rosie's Rainbow in March 2025, on the day she crossed the rainbow bridge.

Just like human seniors, our canine seniors should not die alone

About Us

My passion for rescue began in childhood, from bringing home strays on my bicycle to caring for kittens in my school bag and everything in between. Today, I am dedicated to providing a safe haven for senior dogs with special needs, who are often overlooked in overcrowded shelters.

My background as a veterinary technician provided the medical expertise necessary for specialized senior care. Later, working with an in-home pet euthanasia company solidified my mission to ensure no senior dog spends their final moments alone in a shelter.

Compassion doesn't have an age limit
